Step 1
Your first task is to write down a list of at least 10 things that nourish you and help calm your nervous system. What makes you feel relaxed and, at the same time, energised in your life? What helps you 'fill up your bucket'?
|
Step 2Next, go for a walk (indoors or outdoors) and immerse yourself in that which nourishes you. It might be art, nature, music, exercise, good company or fresh air. Really soak up the nourishment around you.
|
Step 3Find somewhere to sit, close your eyes, settle for a few minutes. Open your eyes and draw whatever you are drawn to. Let the drawing tell you what's important about this moment. Write about this for 5 minutes.
|
Step 4Is there an image that is linked either to what you have drawn or what you have written? I encourage you to find your own shape - but you can also use a feather if you prefer. Check out other people's shapes.

![]() Step 5
Let's say your image is a seed pod. Draw a very simplified version of this seed pod so that you can easily reproduce it. Make a few of them by cutting out several at once. Use thick paper or light card for durability. |
Step 6Use one side of the shape to write about a specific memory you have of a nourishing experience - it might even be the walk you just took. (More details in the video). Colour the image to reflect your feelings.
